The Stanhope Weekender has today announced that rising North East girl band Northern Daughters will perform in the festival's dedicated Emerging Talent slot on Saturday 4 July 2026, as part of what organisers say is shaping up to be the event's biggest and best year yet.

Northern Daughters is a Sunderland-based girl band made up of six talented young performers aged 13–16, who first met at Inspire Stage School and have performed alongside one another for many years. Guided by principal Gemma Waite, the band was formed as a natural progression of their long-standing friendship, shared work ethic and creative chemistry.

With a mission to be a positive soundtrack for young girls growing up today, Northern Daughters write music that speaks honestly about the realities young people face — including anxiety, social media pressure, relationships, mental health and self-belief — with the aim of helping others feel seen, supported and understood.

Stanhope Weekender says it is proud to welcome the group and fully appreciates and respects what Northern Daughters stand for, offering its full support as the band continues to grow.
"Supporting young and emerging talent from the North East is incredibly important to us. Stanhope Weekender has always been about giving people a platform — whether that's artists, creatives, or local businesses — and Northern Daughters perfectly reflect the energy, values and future of live music in our region."
Sean Stembridge | Co-founder - Stanhope Weekender
"We're absolutely thrilled that Northern Daughters will be performing at Stanhope Weekender. This is exactly the kind of platform these girls deserve — a family-friendly festival that celebrates authenticity and community. To see them take the stage at such a well-loved North East event is a proud moment for all of us at Inspire Stage School."
Gemma Waite | Principal, Inspire Stage School

Northern Daughters is supported by Sunderland-based I-Stage Group (ISG), which provides music production, songwriting and recording support, alongside a dedicated two-year development and promotional plan, reflecting ISG's wider mission to discover, nurture and develop emerging talent.
A much-loved fixture in the North East calendar, Stanhope Weekender has built a reputation as a vibrant, community-focused family festival — celebrating live music, local businesses and creative culture. Following the success of previous years, organisers say 2026 promises to be the best Weekender yet, with an unforgettable weekend planned for visitors of all ages.
Northern Daughters will perform at Stanhope Weekender on Saturday 4 July 2026.
